Our Story

Well before the Farm to Fork movement got traction, we were growing fresh produce, fruit, pumpkins and chickens for eggs. Not so much to be cool or trendy, but because it just made sense! Over the years, Windmill Grill has been in business, our customers have enjoyed fresh eggs harvested from our chickens just hours earlier, tasty garden fresh eggplant, squash, sweet corn, tomatoes, peppers, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, blueberries, peaches, apples, pears, and even honey from our bee hives.

Just south of Windmill Grill on Dixon Road is Pumpkin Valley, our farm where we have raised pumpkins, melons, sweet corn and tomatoes, along with other vegetables and yes, quite a few weeds, so keep an eye out for the pumpkin patch and how it progresses through the season. In 2017, we started our Christmas Tree Farm on Center Road and will have Howard County grown trees in just a few years. In this day and age, when “local” produce is defined as coming in from any state that touches Indiana, when we say local, it is truly local. We’ll keep you posted when we have local grown offerings available for your dining pleasure.

Meet Our Team

Emily Trine

I am Emily Trine and am currently a Co-Owner at Windmill Grill. I oversee the kitchen staff as well handle logistics and ordering for the restaurant. I have over 25 years of Food Service Management including full service, quick serve, university dining, bartending & catering. Food Service management kind of runs in my blood. I am a single mom of 2 teenagers. We are originally from Indianapolis and moved to Kokomo in 2021. I have a degree in History and am a history nerd at heart. My goal is to continue Windmill's long history of being a great place to eat and work.

Keria Hill-Ochoa

My role is Co-Owner; my responsibilities are to ensure sales growth and stability for our team, to balance quality & profits to ensure the longevity of our business. I worked at Windmill Grill opening day as a server back in 2002; I found my place in leadership shortly after and chose to make it my career. I left Kokomo for a bit, attained experience in corporate restaurant management, but realized shortly after my daughter was born that there is no place like home. Windmill Grill fills my cup the way we fill other’s. It’s a special corner lot, with the most incredible guests, delicious real foods, and a team that genuinely cares about their work- and each other. I love that our steaks are cut in house, that our Indiana pork tenderloins are hand breaded, & the care we put into each dish… and as a chocolate lover I can say we have the best Chocolatey Chocolate Mousse Cake I’ve ever had (& I’ve had A LOT). I’m a grand daughter, a daughter, a mom, a Girl Scout leader, a Christian, a yard worker and a Restauranteur. My favorite thing to do is really WOW guests, old and new, with delicious food & exceptional service to match; I look forward to meeting you.

Nik Smay

Hello, I’m Nik!  I’ve been with Windmill Grill for almost four years now. I manage the kitchen and cut the steaks.  I live with my beautiful and smart 3-year-old daughter, Ava.  We enjoy pigging out on pizza and playing at the park in my spare time.

Brian Hawk

I have been a dining room manager since 2001. I am a married father of two boys. My favorite food is the tenderloin at Windmill Grill. Outside of the dining room, I enjoy target shooting, reloading, Archery and home brewery.

Jamie Boothby

I am the opening manager in the kitchen. I am a recovering addict. I was on the wrong path for over 10 years. I have been in recovery for over 5 years now and my life has excelled with no regrets. I became part of the Windmill team in 2019. They are family to me. I have two children that I am much involved in named Madison and Brayden. They are my world. I love Windmill Grill because they have pushed me to be better. It has made life for me and my kids much easier.  I eat breakfast every day there and could never get tired of it. Outside of work, I spend my time watching my kids do sports for school. I love watching their happiness, it makes me feel complete seeing my success and theirs.
